Would a Rose by any Other Name Brew so Sweet?

Right now I have at least ten types of premium tea’s from small, ethical importers in my cupboard. Most are great (honestly one stinks), but last week I ran out my “house tea” and I was lost.  My wife thinks this is crazy. How can someone have so much tea, and still feel like they need more? My “house tea” is the famous Canadian Red Rose Tea, and the tea that I have been drinking since childhood.

I don’t know if the orange pekoe/cut pekoe tea would be considered great by many tea drinkers, but it is my comfort drink. The thing I like about it the most is that it is a very forgiving tea. If you brew it for a short time it has a rather light and complex taste. I also like to brew it really (really) dark in the morning as my Canadian Breakfast Tea.  It also makes a great sun tea.

While I love Red Rose, I don’t really get why they have those weird Wade figurines in each box? Who needs those thing laying around the house? No one, that’s who!

No one needs them, but I still collect them! I think I have a complete set from every series since the mid 80’s. There are boxes of them laying around the house. I can’t even give them away (I have tried). Yet another reason my wife thinks I’m crazy.

I don’t think it is that crazy. The holiday set is really practical. Some day the kids will love it!

The nautical set is a little less so… I am not even sure if the kids have a boat bath tub toy. Yet they are still part of the experience.

I digress, back to the actual tea. I love my premium tea’s, but I will always love Red Rose. It is reasonably priced and a great drinking tea. Most likely it will be the tea my children will identify with their childhood too.
