Sirens Wail – Detroit Haiku

Sirens wail on wind
Raccoon looks in warehouse door
Street life in Detroit

Right now I am working in a warehouse in Detroit… not the pretty part that is being rebuilt, but in a part that is being torn down called Brightmoor. Still, the negative Detroit of the news is not my experience either. I don’t really know the correct way to document what I see, but I really want to try. Lacking the talent to be a real poet, I have decided that I want to try my hand at writing Haiku. I think “Detroit Haiku” or “MI (that is postal code for Michigan) Haiku” should be a thing… I honestly hope that people who are better at this will put mine to shame.

This Haiku was originally published on my twitter account.
