Happy Easter

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” (Psalm 118:24)

I would like to wish each of you a Happy Easter! While Lent 2020 seemed to stretch all the way through Lent 2021, I hope this Easter is the turning point. I know the world can often seem overwhelming. I hope that we can each find something that we can “rejoice and be glad” about in our lives. Maybe it is the fact that more people are getting vaccinated. Or the fact that it is getting warmer outside. Maybe there is something in your life that I could never guess, but I hope there is something. Easter is a season to rejoice! And don’t just stop rejoicing on Monday, remember that the Easter season runs all the way to Pentecost which is May 23rd this year.

As St. John Paul II used to say, “We are an Easter people,” so lets find a way to bring Easter to the world. Maybe each of us can find some small way this Easter season to bring more joy and gladness into the world. Maybe a few more smiles, or kind words when you are out in public (even if at times we can not see the smile behind your mask). Maybe praying for world peace or civility when you are at home. Let us take Easter to the world, even if the world has forgotten Easter.
